PNG local elections postponed due to eruption

The nomination period for local elections in Papua New Guinea was due to end this Thursday. However, the website of the Papua New Guinea states that “The 2019 LLG elections are now effectively delayed indefinitely until further notice as per the Supreme Court’s decision”, and electoral commissioner Patilias Gamato also told RNZ that the Thursday date would likely be extended for affected areas.
